[h2]The Exit 8, evolution of the observation horror genre[/h2] I'm on Observation Duty was the game that brought observation mechanics paired with horror onto the spectrum. Even though Notovia expanded on the idea and polished it further, the next major step for the genre as a whole was The Exit 8, a game matching, if not even surpassing, the hype the Observation Duty series got. It took the established formula of a closed environment with eerie and unnerving characteristics and observing it for anomalies, but where it clearly set itself apart from the, at that point, oversaturated observation genre was its free roam aspect.
