Rise Eterna is a great example of a game with a strong visual presentation that fails to live up to its potential. The graphics and overall art direction are pretty good, but the writing is weak and the story struggles and it doesn't have any impact. The trap mechanic is particularly frustrating. Having a trap completely stop a character and end their turn feels more annoying than tactical. Eana’s ability can reduce the impact of traps, but relying on a specific character (that joins the party way to late) to counter such an irritating mechanic doesn't make it much better.
