Mothmen 1966 is a beautiful, pulpy visual novel with some minor gameplay elements added to it. The story is fun, pulpy, and a bit spooky. It leans into the cryptid theme and gets the vibes just right! The 80s style pixel art is stunning and even though the game is set in the 60s, it still manages to help evoke the feeling of a time gone by. It almost feels like stumbling on a random game from your dads collection of floppy disks. On the gameplay side there isn't much to say. There are a few extremely light puzzles and a surprisingly addictive minigame. The story is linear, so choices are more about minor scene shifts or they lead to outright game over screens.
